New Case Studies from Fujitsu and Herman Miller Two new Case Studies portraying how Fujitsu and Herman Miller enhanced their corporate process knowledge deployment are now available. They provide interesting details about the Top Management vision and the business requirements related to their Process Management roadmaps. It presents how Fujitsu and Herman Miller extended their DEM model beyond the Baan users to all employees, and how they achieved a unified Process Management infrastructure across the organization by the use of a single and consistent modeling environment. Jim Gray, who led the modeling effort and is now directing the Business Continuity Program for Fujitsu, adds: "Our strategy recognized that the strength of Fujitsu Transaction Solutions lies in its knowledge base and, therefore, the supply chain that delivers business knowledge to our employees is central to our success. In today's business and technology environment, this is intimately tied to a company's Web strategy as it involves the sharing of assets among employees, departments, and other companies. The EZ-Process suite of products is becoming an integral part of that strategy because DynaFlow provides the needed functionality and a responsive service team." |

Flow Messaging in EZ-Process 2003
As it is true that Workflow Management is focused on process automation, this automation can only be possible if real-time communication between employees, associates and partners exists. And EZ-Workflow makes no exception. As a true Workflow system, EZ-Workflow is capable of initiating, controlling and monitoring structured business processes. However, daily operations don't always fit into the structured processes and often requires flexible and efficient communication channels to handle ad-hoc requests and information exchanges. To address these requirements, the EZ-Workflow Flow Messaging function provides several communication modes: a) Flow Messaging allows Workflow executors to exchange messages similar to emails (asynchronous communication). As these are kept in the EZ-Workflow archives, the audit trail is then more complete. b) Flow Messaging allows Workflow executors to attach messages to any process instance (e.g. a sales order). Additional to step notes also possible, these messages truly integrates the actual transaction with execution notes/warnings that are important to take into consideration while executing the process. c) For quick inquiries & validations, Flow Messaging also supports Instant Messaging (similar to MSN Messenger online chat) for truly real-time ad-hoc information exchange. "We now have an enterprise-wide process documentation tool that we use to integrate DEM process definition, ISO instructions and training manuals, thus enabling Herman Miller to develop and deploy effectively process improvements across the organization. In addition, EZ-Publisher has enabled us to further expand our use of iBaan DEM by documenting business processes for non-Baan departments/users, as the web-enabled diagrams are now available to all our Intranet employees."
